Linkages at District Level

The Area Units, as a part of their linkage building effort, have been active in forging working relationships with DOA, research stations and universities. This is an extension of AME’s collaboration with various government agencies and NGOs on various field problems. AME is, thus having working relationships in the three states with the agriculture departments, agricultural universities and colleges, ICRISAT, CRIDA, KVKs., Central IPM Unit and others, on specific projects.

District Working Committees were constituted in the project phase to facilitate AME in its endeavour to promote sustainable agriculture and forge synergy for better outreach of the farmer-tested technologies, and provide assistance as required. The members include senior government officials, representatives from universities, research institutions, innovative farmers and NGOs.

Links with Input Suppliers

Commercial input suppliers are now producing bio-fertilizers and bio-pesticides. NGOs have also started producing bio-inputs on their own to make them more accessible to farmers and as a source of income. AME has been working with them.

National Steering Committee

As a bilateral project AME was guided by the Steering Committee in the Ministry of Agriculture. The steering committee was chaired by the Joint Secretary, RFS division, Dept. of Agriculture and Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture, GOI. It included representatives from Ministry, Universities, NGOs and the donor - Royal Netherlands Embassy.
