LEISA India has been a platform for exchanging knowledge on agroecological approaches to farming, since 1999. To see if the magazine was making a relevant contribution to small scale agriculture development in India, we have been conducting surveys and impact studies, besides having continous feedback mechanism on the magazines. Reader Surveys have been conducted at periodic intervals to know the usefulness of the magazine. Surveys were conducted in 2004, 2009, 2013 and 2016, the details of which are given below.
As a part of completing a decade, we conducted an Impact study in 2009. Impact is looked in terms of outcomes. Attempt was made to understand and assess the efficiency of our task on hand (dissemination of LEISA practices) – the sphere of control. Further, we also tried to find out how best this information shared is being put to use – the sphere of influence and to what extent our efforts are able to address the issues of small scale agriculture – the sphere of interest. All these were studied using a number of approaches like Readers surveys; Group discussions; Individual interactions; Field visits and Impact workshops.
